Thank you for visiting the Greenwood Classical Guitar Society web site. We are now in our 25th year! The society aims to encourage and develop classical guitar ensemble playing at twice monthly sessions, performances and organised events. We are currently seeking new members in 2017.

Society News
    • It is with deep sadness we report the death of our founder and chairman Martin Shaw.
    • Federation of Guitar Societies 2015 AGM to be hosted by Oxford Guitar Society Sunday June 28th


We meet fortnightly on Friday evenings to play/practise ensemble pieces. We host one or two concerts a year and organise concert visits.

Examples of some of the pieces we play are:
  • Milonga - Jorge Cardoso
  • Pisen Pro Eugenii - Milan Tesar
  • A Los arboles altos - Francois Castet

  • To enable amateur and professional guitarists to take part in ensemble playing.
  • To encourage music students at college to gain experience of playing to an audience.
  • To enable participants to increase their repertoire by exchanging music material, tapes etc. More information from
